Inspection and first flight!

Here's a picture of the plane and my good friend Pat Kirkpatrick (RV-6A flying). He helped me late into the evening, fighting off very cold temperatures, to help me chase down some alternator noise problems. It isn't fixed yet, but we'll get it done. He's been so supportive and is probably MORE anxious to get it flying than I am! Is that possible?

Sorry about the bad lighting. The digital camera did NOT like the cold. This was the last pic before the batteries went kerputt. All that's left at this point is to attach all the inspection covers, fairings and cowl. Then..we go flying!

Strapping on the expensive seat cushion. Once you're seated and belted in, you don't even know it's there.

Me in my personal fighter aircraft. I wired the helmet for civilian impedance intercom operation by pulling the innards out of an old headset. Works great! The visibility through the visor is outstanding. Much better than any sunglasses I've ever had.

Just taxied back. Can you see the grin? Guess what...I STILL HAVE IT.

Discussing initial impressions with Janet Crosby. She's one of the finest aerobatic pilots I've ever seen. She flies a super hot unlimited aerobatic machine called the ZIA300.

Toasting the event with my sweetie! A flying RV8, a bottle of bubbly, and a mega babe wife. Life is good!!!
