5 C flour
1 t salt
1 t soda
3 t baking powder
3 T sugar
1/2 C shortening
1 pkg yeast dissolved in 1/4 C warm water
2 C buttermilk
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until fairly fine. Add dissolved yeast and buttermilk. Stir until all flour is moistened.
Roll 1/2" thick and cut with biscuit cutter. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Yield: 2 dozen. (The dough will keep several weeks in the refrigerator.)
