Bran Muffins

1 ½ C sugar
½ C shortening
2 eggs
2 ½ C flour
2 ½ t soda
½ t salt
2 C buttermilk
1 C boiling water
1 C 100% Bran (Nabisco)
¾ C Raisins
2 C All Bran (Kellogs)

Cream shortening and sugar.  Add eggs.  Add soda, salt, flour, and buttermilk.  Mix well.  Pour boiling water over the 1 C 100% Bran.  Let bran absorb water and cool.  Blend into batter.  Add raisins and All Bran.  Mix well.  Refrigerate covered up to 5 weeks.  When ready to use, dip from container without stirring into greased muffin tins.  Bake in 400 degree oven about 20 minutes or until done.  Recipe may be doubled.
