Do you remember those hot rolls Walter's mom makes? They
taste like the rolls we had in grade school? Well, I've figured it
out...I made them tonight and they were SUPER! And it doesn't take
long....
Here's the recipe...
1 1/2 cups warm/hot water
2 Tablespoons yeast
3 Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup margarine
Flour....
Mix the first five ingrediants and let sit for a couple of minutes
until the yeast is disolved. Then add flour slowly just until mixture
pulls away from the side of the bowl. (You want the dough to be mildly
firm but still a little sticky.) Shape dough into a ball using hands...pour
1/4 cup oil into the semi-clean bowl, then roll the dough until it is amply
covered in oil. Let sit for 30 minutes until it has doubled.
Then punch down the dough and form into small balls (a little bigger than
golf ball size), by pulling the dough inside out using your fingers...so
that the top is smooth...pinch the bottom of the ball shut and place into
a rectangular cake pan that has been sprayed with Pam. It should
make 12 rolls. Let rise for 30 minutes, (spray the tops of the rolls
with pam--just a dusting layer), then bake in a 400 degree oven for 20
mintues or until browned.
*It is important to make all of the rolls the same size if you want
them to brown evenly
