RAISIN SANDWICH COOKIES

Bring to a boil in saucepan; simmer 3 minutes, stirring so it won't burn. Cool and don't drain:

2 c raisins
1 c water

Mix together:

3-1/2 c flour
1 t baking powder
1 t soda
1 t salt
1/2 t cinnamon
1 /2 t nutmeg

Cream:

1 c shortening
1-3/4 c sugar

Add and beat 2  eggs. Stir in 1 t vanilla with raisins and liquid. Stir in flour mixture with 1/2 c chopped nuts. Batter will be stiff.

Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet about 2" apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes--just light brown, not burned on bottoms. Remove to cool. Join two cookies together with filling.

FILLING

1/2 c Crisco
2 c powdered sugar
1 c marshmallow cream
1 t vanilla
3/4 T milk

Cream sugar and Crisco; add remaining ingredients and beat well. 1
