The first thing you have to do is get two or three friends together, and make a plan of what games and booths you are going to have at your carnival. Then figure out what refreshments you can have. You can make your own Kool Aid, but ask mom if she would like to help by baking cup cakes or cookies. If you have any extra wrapped candy you can use that too.
Now you have to choose a theme: Summer, Fall, Halloween, or anything you can think of. This is how you will decorate the area. To decorate cut things out of construction paper or use crepe paper streamers. Such as if it's a Halloween Carnival - decorate with pumpkins, spiders, witches and all halloween things.
LET'S MAKE THE GAMES
Make a Ring Toss-----Cut cardboard circles as big as the bottom of a skillet. In the center cut a hole leaving only about 2 inches between the inside and the outside of the circle. You will need either a soda pop bottle or a sturdy stick to throw the ring over. Make sure the opening in the ring will slide easily over the bottle or stick. If you use a soda bottle put some dirt or water in it so it will not fall down. For the rules you can either make up your own, or give each player 3 rings and give prizes accordingly. Candy is a good prize. Note: An empty pizza box makes good rings.
Bowling Game----To make this gather up some 2 litre soda bottles, and fill them with dirt. Twelve is a good number, or if you can't find 12 use three. For the ball it has to be something heavy, a Basketball or a Bowling Ball. You can give points for each bottle toppled.
Ball Toss-----Gather several different sizes of boxes. Leave one side open and set it upright. On the front of each box write a number---larger numbers toward the back. Find some balls or rocks large enough to fit easily in your hand. Decide what prizes you will be giving for the points earned. Over 10, 5 to 9, and under 5. Give each player three balls and let them toss the balls in the boxes. Add up their scores and give them the prize.
Cupcake Tin Toss-----Ask mom if you can use her old cupcake tins. With a washable marker write a number inside each circle. Gather up more balls. You need at least three. Lay the pans all in a line. Have the player throw the balls into the pans. And add up the score. You can use the same point system as above.
Water Balloon Toss----Fill up several balloons and have a water balloon toss. You can toss them into a dishpan or have a person put on a bathing suit and let people toss them at him.
BE CREATIVE DESIGN YOUR OWN GAMES!
A Rummage Sale is another good way to earn money. Clean your room, and you will imagine what you don't need. Sell the clutter---someone else would love to have it. You will be surprised how much money you can get for all that junk! Old McDonalds Toys, Stuffed Toys, Vending Machine Toys, Old Jewelry, and lots more ideas.
You can have a puppet show. Just get a large box, cut an opening large enough to put on the show through it. Make your puppets out of old socks. Just put eyes, nose, and mouth on it. You can use felt, ribbons, buttons, and just about anything to decorate them. Put hats on them too. Set the box on a table that has a sheet draped over it. This way you can hide behind the table while you are working the puppets. Do the show to match your theme. Like if it's Halloween make witches and ghosts, etc.
Now for Refreshments, set up a table and put the refreshments on it. Make a sign telling the prices and what you have. Keep things covered to keep out the flies and anything else that is flying around.
................ EXTRA THINGS TO DO...................
If it is a windy day you can have a kite flying contest. You can give prizes for the best kite, the person who can fly it the highest. Give a ribbon as a prize for this.
If it's Halloween you can have a costume contest and have everyone come dressed in costumes. Make a Ribbon for this contest also.
You can have other games, like Three Legged Races, How far someone can throw a ball, How far they can jump, or toss a frisbee. Be creative.
