Granola Bars

1/3 C. vegetable oil 1 t. cinnamon
3/4 C. brown sugar 1/2 t. baking powder
2 T. honey or corn syrup 1/4 t. salt
1 t. vanilla 1 1/2 C. oats
1 egg 2 C. crisp rice cereal
1 C. whole wheat flour

1.  In a large bowl combine oil, brown sugar, honey or corn syrup, vanilla and egg.
2. Add flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Mix well.
3. With a large spoon, stir in oats and cereal.
    You can also add 1 C. of optional, fruits, nuts, chocolate chips, peanut butter
    chips etc.
4. Spray treat a 9x13 pan. Press mixture evenly into the pan.
    For chewy bars, bake at 350 deg. 20 - 30 minutes.
    For crispy bars bake at 300 deg. until golden brown all over 40 - 50 minutes.
5. Cool completely and cut into 16 bars by cutting through
the middle lengthwise     and crosswise seven times.
