Bamboo rakes provide a
unique opportunity to examine old world construction techniques and the
use of natural fibers in sustained successful competition with state of
the art technology.
Bamboo is a low cost tropical grass. Some manufacturers agree that bamboo rakes have become popular mostly due to their low price, however, some gardeners have expressed a preference for bamboo rakes which they believe are gentler. The material used in Taiwan is Queen bamboo having these preferred properties of 1. a smooth, hard skin; 2. lengthy & delicate inside fibers; 3. elastic and shape-staying abilities. These subtropical floras can be found grown in the high mountainous areas from a height of 300 meters to 1000 meters. It takes about 4 years for bamboo to produce a hard skin, waterproofing, and a delicate, elastic fiber suitable for rake manufacture. |
