I am pleased in share with you a redrafting of an ancient pattern for a mat, worked by my grandmother. (You can see it oval shaped, here below) The pattern is composed of a round edge, a circular braid insertion and an interesting center made with guipures, laced in zig zag and sewed to the outer braid, providing an image of a many leaved flower. The motifs in the edge are spiders and a light fan. Care should be taken with the pairs crossed and taken across the opposite site in the joinings between fans.
