"The Matrix" was an innovative, captivating and, overall impressive movie. Much of the same could be said about the hit computer game "Half-Life". If you combined the smooth, supercool style and moves of "The Matrix" with all the action, interface, and adventure of "Half-Life",you would get "Deus Ex".
The name is from a popular Latin phrase "deus ex machina," meaning "God coming out of the mechanism" is a theatrical phrase for an unexpected plot twist. One could not find a more apt description of the game. At the beginning, you learn that you are Agent J C Denton of the United Nations Anti-Terrorism Coalition. You also learn that you are a cyborg, and are able to acquire new "augmentations", each giving you another superhuman ability. Once you have been trained, you are sent on your first mission, and the plot takes off from there.
After the first five minutes of playing "Deus Ex", I was captivated. I concluded then that this was the game for anybody who would like a shot at being the superhuman bionic man who saves the world from evil, corruption, and certain demise. I cannot think of anything this game is wanting in. Jugus bonus est. Enjoy.
