Civilization III
4.5 out of 5 stars

Your ancestors were nomads. Your people have now learned secreats of sicence, and now you have decided to settle, and build your first city..... and so begins the game of Civilization 3.

The latist in the critically acclaimed "Civilazation" series (consisting of "Civilization", "Civ II", of which there is the three versions, [civ 2, civ 2 gold, and civ 2: test of time] "Alpha Centauri", and "Alien Crossfire") Civ 3 is a well-programmed, greatly deverting, visually impressive turn-baised stratigy game that will have you addicted, and un-able to step away from your compuer.

When you start out, you have a "setteler" (which is a unit used to build cities) or two, and a couple of  "workers" (units that build farms, roads, mines, etc.). As the game progresses, you find that you are in need of defense. You can solve this probablem with the wide array of millatary units. Although only one millitary unit is available at the game's start (the rather un-impressive "Warroir") you can research new technologies, and build stronger, more powerful units.

If you feel restricted by one city, you can build extra settelers, and workers to expand your empire. If that isn't your cup of tea, you can also take cities from your opponits by force. While all of this conquest, and building is happening, your cities can manufacture things like walls to protect your cities, and harbors to take command of the seas. As if all that isn't enough, you can build great wonders of the world, to impress your foes, and raise your score.

Well, there you have it. Civ 3 may have been out for a few months out, but it is still a captivating, fun, and overall great games, sure to go down in computer game history, allong with the "Quake" games, "Doom", "Warcraft", "Sim City", and all the other "Civ" games.
