* 2003 Budweiser Downtown Hoedown Preview * by AmericaJR AmericaJR Online will be LIVE for the 21st Annual Budweiser Downtown Hoedown. It is going on from Friday, May 16th until Sunday, May 18th at Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit. This year's Hoedown is expected to be bigger and better than ever. In previous years, the Hoedown was full of male singers. This year, there is an even mix of male and female country stars. The headliners for this year are Diamond Rio, Trace Adkins and Patty Loveless. The Budweiser Downtown Hoedown is known as the world's largest free country music concert. The sponsors for this year are Farmer Jack, Budweiser and Casino Windsor. Along with all the music, there is lots more to do. There is tons of different restaurants where you can eat at set up at Hart Plaza. Of those, ribs, chicken, pizza and more food. There is also shops on another side where you can buy country/western gear like cowboy hats and boots. You can sit along the river and enjoy the LIVE music as well. The hoedown begins on Friday with newcomer Brett James. Then, Kellie Coffey takes the stage with her hit song "When You Lie Next to Me." Pinmonkey comes next with their song "Barbed Wire and Roses." Carolyn Dawn Johnson will perform afterward with her hits "I Don't Want You To Go" and "Complicated." Headlining on Friday night is Diamond Rio. Their latest CD Completely includes the songs "I Believe" and "Beautiful Mess." Saturday begins with newcomer Jennifer Hanson who will perform her hit song "Beautiful Goodbyes." Later, Ricky Skaggs will perform with his songs "Heartbroke" and "Cajun Moon." Gary Allen is next with his latest songs "Man to Man" along with "The One." Trace Adkins is headling on Saturday night. Some of his most recent songs include "Chrome" and "I'm Tryin'" His latest CD is Chrome which will be released in late 2003. He will also sing favorites like "This Ain't No Thinkin' Thing." On Sunday, you will be introduced to a line of new and upcoming stars. The hoedown begins on Sunday with Amy Dalley. Her new song is called "Love's Got An Attitude." Then, you will be introduced to Brian McComas. He will sing "99.9% Sure" which is a fast-pased country song. Next, new favorite Jessica Andrews will be performing. She will sing her latest song "There's More To Me Than You" along with her #1 song "Who I Am." Patty Loveless headlines the Sunday portion of the hoedown. Her latest album is titled Mountain Soul. You can expect her to perform "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" and "Blame It On Your Heart." You can expect the weather at the hoedown to be around 70°. You should wear sunblock and/or sunglasses. A definite need is comfortable clothes including shorts and a T-shirt. As a precaution, some items that are not allowed at the hoedown include: pets, alcohol, video cameras, bottles, cans or coolers. In previous years, the hoedown has attracted one million people over the three days. Just to warn you, it will be hot and crowded. You need to remember to be patient and not get out of control.
