* 2003 Budweiser Downtown Hoedown Review * by AmericaJR I had the opportunity to go to all three days of the Hoedown this year. It was a blast and I've never had this much fun in my life. More than 850,000 people attended the Hoedown at Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit this year. The weather was pretty good. It could have been better but I couldn't complain. Last year, it was in the 40's and this year it was mostly in the 60's. On Friday, everyone thought it was going to rain but then it was just cloudy. The other two days it was mostly cloudy and there were some times where it is sunny. I had an all-access media pass so I have the best pictures on the Web. I was able to stand right up in front of the stage with the rest of the media. Not only that, I had the opportunity to meet some famous people. I shook hands with Trace Adkins, Jessica Andrews and Chuck Gaidica. All of which, you can see in my 2003 Hoedown Pictures section. On Friday, I liked Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Diamond Rio. Her song, "I Don't Want You To Go" is one of my personal favorites. I have Diamond Rio's CD and they have a lot of songs that I enjoy. Gary Allan and Trace Adkins were good on Saturday night. I saw Gary Allan last summer when he was part of Brooks & Dunn's Neon Circus tour. I like his song "Man to Man." Trace Adkins had a lot of good songs including his most recent "Chrome." On Sunday night, I enjoyed Jessica Andrews and Patty Loveless. I like two of Jessica's song, "Who I Am" and her current hit "There's More to Me Than You." I did not get to see much of Patty Loveless but she sang "Blame It On Your Heart." Several newcomers introduced themselves at the Hoedown this year. On Friday, there was Brett James and Kellie Coffey ("When You Lie Next To Me"). Kellie Coffey recently won the 2003 ACM Award for Best New Female. On Saturday, Jennifer Hanson introduced herself to the Motor City with her song "Beautiful Goodbyes." Sunday was full of newcomers including Amy Dalley ("Love's Got an Attitude") and Brian McComas ("99.9% Sure"). Linda Lee is an afternoon disc jockey at 99.5 WYCD. She said, "Everything was just perfect this year, great weather, great people and OUTSTANDING talent, with a really nice mix!!!" Linda Lee added, "I would like to thank everyone who came to the Hoedown, and made it such a perfect weekend!!!! I am so thankful for our listeners, for showing the whole Motor City, that when "county folk" get together in massive numbers, it can be a peaceful family affair!!" I had so much fun at this year's hoedown that I can't wait until next year. See you next year at the 22nd Annual Budweiser Downtown Hoedown. Linda Lee said, "I would like to see all the familiar faces, of people like YOU, who have made the Hoedown such a success~!!!!"
