Red
Wings Tie Predators 5-5 in OT
by
AmericaJR
In
the past two games, the Red Wings have tied their opponents in overtime.
On Thursday, they tied the Florida Panthers 2-2 and then the Predators
5-5 on Tuesday night.
Detroit
had control of the game up until the 3rd period on Tuesday. The
Red Wings are not living up to their standards as true Stanley Cup
champs. Things should include once Steve Yzerman returns to the
game in the next few weeks.
For
the Red Wings, Henrik Zetterberg, Kris Draper, Brendan Shanahan,
Luc Robitaille and Pavel Datsyuk scored. It was Luc Robitaille's
first goal in the past 21 games. He admits, "It does feel
like a loss. When you're up 5-2 and you want to be a top team, you
can't do that."
Kimmo
Timonen scored two goals for the Nashville Predators during the
game. He said, "Somehow, we got some extra energy in the
second period." Timonen adds, "And in the third
period, we played even better."
Brett
Hull is still one goal away from a career total of 700. He hasn't
scored one on the past five games. In other news, Chris Chelios
is out with a sore leg.
The
Predators came back strong when they needed to most, in the third
period. Nashville coach Barry Trotz said, "We got off to
a horrible start." He adds, "The game is so mental
and half the guys were still on their break."
The
Detroit Red Wings are now 27-15-9 and second in the NHL Central
Division. Their next game is at 8pm vs Colorado Avalanche. GO
