In
pursuance of its stated vision, mission and goal, vksk has set following
objectives to guide its areas of operation:
The
organization has taken a stand on developing the internal capacities of the
target communities and initiated a noble process of development at the rural
grass roll and community levels. Basic
education is one of the major thrusts of the organization through which a true
process of grass root level development may be initiated.
Another
important thrust area is women’s development.
The organization feels that it is the women community, which is the
backbone of rural community, total economy and rural family.
The organization has, that is why, given a major focus on gender
equitable development with the maintenance of equity, equality and social
justice. In fact, the strategy of
the organization is such that the women are made involved in the entire process
of integrated rural development. The effort is to help the society recognize reproductive role
of the women and at the same time promote the productive and community roles of
women. Apart from addressing the
practical needs, the organization is focusing on strategic interest also of the
women.
Development
and support to the vulnerable children and helpless old people are another focus
of the organization. Health,
Nutrition, education, skill training and income generation are the different
kinds of social support services that the organization pledges to provide.
Sanitation, environment and safe drinking water programs in the rural
areas are need based and are taken up in order to promote overall hygiene and
health status of the poor people in the rural areas.
Promotions
of local and village-based Biotechnology Project & indigenous Project
in the rural areas are encouraged so that the self-employment avenues may
be opened. In fact, in the
industrial urban sector the employment generation has come to a saturated point,
due to various factors involving increasing use of labour substituting machines
and inadequate human resource development.
Strengthening the domestic economy through promotion of small scale and
village industries has become the need of the hour.
Lastly,
a true spirit of development requires a missionary zeal, commitment, fellow
feeling and brotherhood irrespective of any consideration of caste, race,
religion language and sex. The
organization feels that inculcation of the spirit of fellow feeling,
nationalism, and cultural consciousness is necessary for development and it has
directed its efforts to this and from the very beginning of inception.
The
organization follows the approach of decentralization and community
participation, where need identification and possible solutions are decided at
the grass root level. The Community
Based Organisation & self help
approach s, women forums and youth clubs are active, alive, conscious and
decentralized units, which comprehend the ground realities.
The organization here plays the role of facilitator.
In all the project activities, decentralization approach has been
followed thoroughly. Strategically,
the organization believes in formation of cluster-based groups (CBOs), for
shouldering the development responsibilities and ultimately taking it over from
the organization. Thus CBOs are promoted in each of the target village.
The Poor Tribal men and women are organized into various functions groups
to work effectively for their development. Gander equity is another critical element of the
organizational strategy. It tries
to address practical needs as well as strategic interests of the vulnerable
sections especially women.
A
complementary to decentralized approach is the participator approach.
The organization tries to ensure full and comprehensive participation of
the beneficiaries the every stage of project conceptualization, formulation,
project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
The effective and meaningful participation could sustain almost all
project activities even after stipulated project period is over.
The organization follows bottom up approach in implementation and
strictly avoids top down approach since its inception.
The people, for whom the organization works, are the main planner and
executor of their developmental activities.
The organization plays the role of facilitator only.
Identification of problems, prioritization, resource allocation, role
division, monitoring and review of the active involvement of the
people/beneficiaries. No doubt, the
organization works hard for their capacity building and leadership development.
