Entry for January 15, 2007
This is the first entry in my blog for a long time.

My dear mother Britta Schander-Landahl passed away

2006 December 12th. I have been rather busy with her funeral and moving things out of her apartment but I hope to be able to blog more in the future

During my trip to Stockholm I spend most of my time at the conference so it was little time to see other sites in the city. however I had time to visit my first cousin Ingrid Landahl (my maternal uncles daughter) and her little son Elmer Landahl-Bolin(in the picture). Elmer is 8 months old and a happy little boy.According to his mother he is the cutest baby in the world and I think I have to agree with her ;)

Among the other lecturer was a representative of www.familysearch.org (in the picture). He spoke about the use of the site both now and in the future and about its ambitious plans to digitilise as much records as concerning genealogy in the world and to make it freely available on the Internet.the site for the project is http://www.familysearchindexing.org/ another intresting lecture was given by ancestry.co.ukrepresentative Josh Hanna. he talked about Ancestry.com :s services and plans to digitilise more European material.

During the conference a lot of intresting lectures were giving (so many that I could not listen to all but  I will tell about a few of them. first I listened to an intresting lecture by professor Scott Woodward  (the man in the picture) about Sorensen Molecular Genetics. The Foundation was started in 2000 by billionaire and philantropist James Sorensen (with norweigan ancestors) and professor Woodward (then of Bringham Young University). The foundations goal is to make a genetic map of the people of the world using (freely donated) DNA-samples and pedigrecharts in at least 4 genearations participation is free and the hope is that by showing that we all are related to each other we will understad each other and have more peacful world. I gave a little sample of my DNA too
