We are a South Auckland Boardriders club based at Piha with a goal of uniting like-minded individuals to share their passion for bodyboarding and surfing. The club began as a group of friends who loved going to the beach every weekend for a surf. As most of us lived in Otara we decided to name the club Arato (Otara backwards) Chargers. Since our humble beginnings in 2001 we have had numerous enquiries and membership numbers in the 60's.

Some of the activities we have organized include surf trips (in NZ and overseas), snow trips (depending on the season), coaching clinics, surf camps, running bodyboarding competitions and video nights. A number of our members also compete on the National Bodyboarding Tour and even the International Bodyboarding tour. We are also affiliated to Surfing New Zealand and Bodyboard Surfing New Zealand which has been beneficial for us in developing our community club status.
