the Armed CONVENTICLE
the
BLUE BANNER
of the COVENANT
This blue flag hangs in many R.P.C.N.A. churches.  It is a silly decoration - an icon of the Covenanter "heritage" that these churches reject.  It is also an idol because the Regulative Principle does not authorize images for Christian Worship.

This is rather a Battle Flag, carried by the Covenanters under General Alexander Leslie, first earl of Leven.  It was hoisted in the late 1630s by brave Christians who fought for
THE Covenant - the Scottish National Covenant.  This Banner declares war in behalf of King Jesus, Lord of Nations!

One
R.P.C.N.A. pastor told me that the only covenant he wants it to stand for is Christ's Covenant of Grace.  Many in this denomination reject defensive arms, public covenanting, and other doctrines for which the Covenanters fought and died.

How aweful to adorn the tombs of prophets that one would have oppossed!
