| Officers for 2004-2005 School Year President: Sabrina Faircloth Vice-President: Dustin Altman Secretary: Karen Arthur Treasurer: Brett Miller ATSAC Rep: Carolyn Cates The first club meeting was held on October 27, 2004. For full minutes of the meeting Click Here. Carolyn (club’s ATSAC representative) discussed the things she learned at the last ATSAC meeting. ATC Ambassador’s Program Copy machine update New School Van New student ID’s Field Trips One of the main topics of discussion was the club field trip to either Orlando or New Orleans. The Orlando conference (February 27-March 4) is generally Analytical Chemist from all fields of science, and the New Orleans Conference (February 19-February 26) is on Forensic Science. The New Orleans trip will require each student to volunteer to work two, four hour shifts to pay for their entrance into the conference (which will also count towards the clubs community service efforts). We would be leaving Athens Tech on Saturday and returning on Tuesday for both conferences. The club will be taking a vote by email. Everyone should send their vote to Sabrina at funhouse8686@yahoo.com by Friday, October 29, 2004. The New Orleans conference was voted in; however the volunteer spaces have been filled, and we will need to come up with a new way to fund the trip. This will be the focus of our discussion next club meeting. A field trip to the UGA Aquatic Biotechnology and Environmental Laboratory is being planned for November 11th . Several of the club members attended the field trip to Dr. Winn's lab. We appreciated the opportunity to visit the lab and learn about his reseach. Other Topics of Discussion: Treasurer Finished business Science Fair Fund raising Community Projects Priority Guide Scheduled Club Meetings. The club has decided on bi-monthly meeting which will be on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month at 2:00pm. Dr. Braun is looking into using the Conference room where the ATSAC meetings are held every month. The next club meeting will be held on November 11, 2004 in this room unless we can not use the room. If there is a problem with the club meeting here, the members will be notified by email. |
