BAYOU DULCIMER CLUB
We are the Bayou Dulcimer Club of Bedico, LA.

We are a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote interest, learning and performing traditional and contemporary music written and arranged for the Appalachian or mountain dulcimer.

While our focus is primarily the dulcimer, we welcome participation in acoustic instruments.

We meet every Thursday evening at the Bedico Baptist Church in Bedico.  The  location of the Church is on Hwy 22 between Pontchatoula and Madisonville. Our Club consists of members in varying stages of musical development.  A class for "beginners" and "advanced beginners" starts approximately every 8 weeks, however call a Club Officer for specific dates.
While beginning students are in class, other club members assemble  to practice new tunes, work on technique, rehearse for an upcoming performance or just play from the club repertoire.

Periodically we have socials, such as potluck dinners or group camp-outs and perform at local events, churches and nursing homes.

In the past we have been known for our annual
Mardi Gras Festival, however, starting in the year (2002) we have decided to discontinue them.  Please keep in touch to see when we'll be holding any other kind of activity in the future.

Dues of $5.00 per month per individual, $7.50 for couples, are used to cover the cost of reproduction of music for the club, as well as for our donations to First Baptist Church.

We welcome anyone who has an interest in acoustical music - membership is open.
