The Blue Cross Society, Hisar is an animal
welfare NGO affiliated to Animal Welfare Board of
India, with its head office at College of Veterinary Sciences, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana
Agricultural University, Hisar. The Society, though a small attempt,
provides platform for feasible activities aimed at the animal
welfare.
The objectives of the society are:
To act as liaison NGO between
the Animal Welfare Board of India and the common masses of Hisar
District.
To act as a watchdog for
cruelty against animals.
To educate the people about
animal rights and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (59 of
1960).
Jurisdiction of Blue Cross
Society, Hisar is limited to the Hisar district as per revenue records.
The Society provides clinical aid to ill
and traumatized animals through its Veterinary Clinical Aid Cell at University campus. Beside this, we
organize Awareness Campaigns against cruelty to animals, Vaccination Camps for
stray animals and conduct ABC (Animal Birth Control)
programs.
Veterinary
Clinical Aid Cell of Blue Cross Society, Hisar provides clinical aid to
traumatized or otherwise ill abandoned animals. The cell has a separate
well-equipped setup within the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Service Complex of
College of Veterinary Sciences, CCSHAU, Hisar. The college faculty and students
offer their services for this noble cause.
An Indian citizen above the age of 18
years, willing to work for the cause of animal rights, can be a member of the
society. There is a token fee of Rs. 20 only for annual membership. The term of
each annual membership expires by March 31st of the coming year. An active
member after two years of annual membership is eligible for life membership of
the society.
