Artists of Distinction

The Fine Arts Department initated the National Exhibition of Art first time in 1949. the various types of categories were introduced to account for the wide range of works submitted for the National Exhibition of Art. During 1st-14th events many types could be identified as : painting, sculpture, applied arts, children art, decorative arts, commercial/advertizing art, monochrome, ornamental art, graphic arts and drawing. From the 15th-26th National Exihibition of Art, more simplified categories were adopted, which identified three major sections : painting, scuplture and graphic arts. At the 27th, another type of artist style, mixed media, was added. At the 30th, it was back to the three categories of painting, sculpture and graphic arts. However, from the 37th until now it was changed back again to four categories, including mixed media    There are three levels of awards, first prize :  gold medal award, second prize : silver medal award and third prize : bronze medal award. Artists who have won three gold medals, or two gold medals and two silver medals in the same category of work, are conferred the title "Artist of Distinction".
