These pictures were taken on April 6, 2001 when the Roanoke River gauge at Niagara was 592 cfs or 3.51'.

Some notes on this run: This is a very convenient play run for people in the Roanoke area. Most of it is only class 1-2, but it does have several good waves and holes for playing and a couple of more difficult rapids that may be class 2 to 3. The bypass section around the powerhouse is good action when enough water is spilling over the dam, and another rapid within sight of the parkway has optional class 3 routes. I have done this section with a level of 400 cfs at Niagara and many of the playspots were better than at 592 cfs.
