It is rumored that Company C, 24th NC Regiment was organized under a big oak tree in downtown Clayton, Johnston County. The tree apparently had a yellow-jackets nest, and that's how the nickname originated.

Tuesday, August 26, 7:00 PM
We meet at 7:00 PM the 4th Tuesday of each month in the fellowship hall
at Powhatan Free Will Baptist Church on Powhatan Road. We meet at 6:00 PM at
Smithfield Chicken & BBQ for dinner before the meeting.
