The Stairways gig  on 3rd Nov was a nice low key blast for Catch Phoney. With able support from Sarah Wiig and Favela it was a good night to make some reverberations in a delicate muted surrounding (Hee! Hee!). The following night was another spin at the usual watering hole, O'Flahs. We pulled out some new tunes 'Superjack' and 'Violin Song'  that went down a treat.........Animate Productions are currently editing a video for 'Emphememphis' from footage they shot of us in a haunted house. The whole shoot was shot guerilla style on private properties in torrential weather which definitely added vibe to the visuals. Christian Emery from Animate Productions managed to get a few ghosts on film........The Catchpenny EP is still being mastered but should be finished soon (yeah you've heard that one before).

Omigosh!! In a fit of rage Matthew Esquire quit Catch Penny today. Nick Davies commented on the situation: "Things have been coming to a head for quite a while now". "Matthew had a tendency to go off on tangents from the rest of the band and not really come back from them". "He is probably in a far better place now". "We've already replaced him with Dwayne's cousin, Amy Blue." "Everything is flowing good now and there is more vibe."

Slouch Penny lounged out on the weekend to a Prozac crowd. You know it's not like the old days when you're getting hit in the head with paper cups instead of   half-filled jugs...oh well.....Recording is moving along at a leisurely pace. Very leisurely........Catch Penny are playing a 21st in Hamilton this Friday. They are also available to play housie evenings, divorce parties and wine and cheese evenings.........Summer is looming and Catch Penny will be taking it to the streets, the alley ways and maybe even the gutters if we can fit them in. Anyone or someone out there might be aware that the Napier Hospital was closed down a while back. Consequently The Catchers have acquired various surplus medical devices. Various audiometer pulse measuring things that we'll blend into our technicolour black and white sound.

Would you believe I'm tired? Recording is going slow. Nick's somewhere in Auckland. Johhny's in Nelson. I'm going to Wellington on Thursday. Will we ever be in the same town at the same time again? I guess so. Ultra Special Ceramico Isolation Booth at the Studio has been working a treat for the acoustic tracks. Hopefully we'll get this done by end of October. Man I'm tired. Heard a new Tomahawk song today. It was so good I had a sick grin on my face after a few seconds of listening. I was in hysterics after a minute. In fact I'm listening to it as I write this.

Is war brewing on this small planet? I hope not there are so many amazing things human beings could be doing other than killing each other. I hope the United States Government, Military whatever realises trying to get revenge for what has happened to them could just provoke more loss of life. Right now I think New Zealand is probably the best place on earth to be. Take care out there people.

Really Tired, Really. More imagery up from our last Palmy gig and should be some video and more pics on site by the end of the week.....We had a ball at O'Flahs on Sunday, played few new tunes fresh from our practice space and had a cool audience for a frosty Sunday evening. Sarah Wiig opened up with some acoustic numbers backed by Gareth and Lyndsay.  They were sweet. Probably be back at O'Flah's with Sarah before the end of the month. Recording is a go for this weekend. I personally find the recording process really torturous. I like our music sure, but you end up hearing it so much and of course we'll have to work through things between the five of us and that won't be easy. I mean its unlikely I'll get everything to go my way. So there's bound to be problems. I'm pretty sure we'll be in fisticuffs with each other after a few days....oh well..... Something else.... Went to Welli on the weekend for some busking and what have you and caught a bit of GoodShirt who were awesome!!! Went to a massive booksale too and bought another copy of Catcher In The Rye (You can never have too many copies of this book ask any gun-weilding maniac.) Well anyway my caffeine is running out and I need sleep.....

Music!!! it makes everything alright? Well not quite all the time but it sure helps. Just lie on my bed and stare at the ceiling and listen to some good music. Forget all the troubles and woes. Chill......Bliss.....Relax....... Well anyway Catch Penny are recording their first CD mid September!!!!  It should hopefully be available from this website and good music retailers in good old New Zealand early October. All going well some video promos and getting out and about in this wonderful country should follow. We'll be setting up a home studio at Nicks for this and combining the awesome capabilities of home computers with all the flaming good gear we can borrow, we 'll be recording a six song EP. By the ways we're not going to be playing Havelock High School, But hopefully we'll do a local high school jaunt late 2001. We should have some photos and videos from this weeks gigs posted early next week. A few more exciting developments are in the Catch Penny pipeline so keep checking the Words!!!!
