Recent Notable Mentions:

2002 - E! True Hollywood Story - Freddie Prinze
This one hour documentary on Freddie aired on the E! Entertainment channel. Comedian David Brenner, Kathy Prinze, Freddie's former manager Marvin "Dusty" Snyder and comedian Paul Rodriguez were among those interviewed. This special would have been much better if it had been extended to two hours. But it is worth watching if you are a fan or just would like to know more about Freddie Prinze. Although keep in mind that the picture painted of Freddie in this documentary wasn't full faceted.

2003 - I Love The 70's - VH1 - (1974)
In this mini series of sorts, VH1 aired one hour documentaries for each year of the 1970's. Freddie Prinze was mentioned briefly as one of the three top "Macho Men" of 1974. A well deserved honor! But sadly, VH-1 failed to mention "Chico and the Man" in it's series of documentaries. Other top shows of that time that shared the same accolades as "Chico" did, such as Happy Days and Sanford and Son were mentioned though. A gross disservice to Chico and the Man here.

2004 - TV Land Awards
Freddie Prinze Jr. accepted a "Visionary" award for his Dad at the 2004 TV Land awards. George Lopez presented the award, and clips of Chico and the Man were showed in a touching tribute. The following will explain what the award was about: VISIONARY AWARD: In 1974, mainstream television went to the barrio for the first time with a situation comedy that saw the growing importance and relevance of Latino culture. In Chico and the Man, set in East L.A., an enterprising young Latino mechanic forges an unlikely partnership and eventually, friendship, with an older surly, white garage owner. The show starred Emmy-winning legend Jack Albertson and the charismatic young Freddie Prinze as his cohort and antagonist. TV Land honors Chico and the Man for bringing a multicultural neighborhood to life and into the homes and neighborhoods all over America. It was an important step forward. It was also the pinnacle of the all-too-short career of Freddie Prinze. George Lopez presented this award to Freddie Prinze Jr., who accepted this award on behalf of his father, the late Freddie Prinze.
