"So it's permanent," Vala finally said one
day.
Daniel nodded. "Certainly seems to be. I'm
sorry."
Sharing Daniel's body wasn't as easy as it
sounded. Necessary trips to the men's room had become awkward
and embarrassing, and the less said about showering, the
better. They weren't allowed back in the field for months
while they adjusted to the new living arrangements, and in
some ways it didn't even seem real yet.
Sometimes, Vala
forgot and ran a hand through her hair, getting a nasty shock
when she remembered why it was so short. She missed being able
to brush her own long tresses every morning. She missed her
makeup. She missed her breasts.
Daniel knew, but said
nothing. He thought about growing his hair out again.
