Farm Tour of Swift Water Farms

Welcome to Swift Water Farms' Farm Tour Page. I hope you enjoy seeing pictures of our farm and horses. There are no buttons to press to navigate through the images - it's set to automatic. All you have to do is sit back, relax, get a cup of coffee or beverage of your choice, and peruse our farm at your own comfortable pace.
Just a brief history of how we came to be: the land that comprises Swift Water (about 40 acres) has been family owned; my cousins' grandparents owned it before we did. The old timers gave it the name Swift Water because the creek that runs through it called Flagon Creek would rise rapidly when lots of rain came in. It would flood the back part of the land, that's how it acquired its name, then I added the Cremello Capital because I was breeding the cremello colored walking horses.
My farm is crossed fenced into three pastures and three paddocks located next to my barn. Here on the farm, we have a bachelor pasture for the stud colts, located on the north side of our house, keeping them separated from the mares along with the fillies. Also on the west side we usually have our fillies, and in the back side we keep our broodmares. Stallions are housed in the barn with large stalls and are turned out occasionally to run in the paddocks. Our system works pretty good, keeping everything under control and laid out where all you have to do is look around you, the house is surrounded by the farm. We have a white steel pipe fence to secure the safety of our horses, not likely they will get through it. I'm just a little country girl trying to do what my dad taught me when I was a little cowgirl. He would be so proud of me if he could be here with me. My work is never done here on the farm, the lights stay on in the barn day and night always looking down that way to see what is going on. I can stand on my patio and look into my barn, just a pretty good setup. I'm proud of it.
We were brought up with walking horses as a child, but they weren't palominos , just sorrels/blacks. I always had a love for them. I've never stopped loving horses, don't guess I ever will, guess it's just too late now, it's in my bloodstream. To do the hard work I do you have to love it, I hardly ever get away from this farm and when I do, it's always on my mind. I would hope one day our children understand the "importance of this farm" and what it meant to my family of the past and what it means to me and what I want it to mean to them. My two granddaughters Kortney and Shelby come into the barn with their little dresses and white shoes on and get right in those stalls with me and scoop the Poop, they make me so proud.
Well, that's about it. As you will see from the slides, some of my horses would rather pose than eat. So I hope you enjoy the tour and come back and visit us again - we're always updating and adding new and exciting stuff to our Website!!!
Please be patient, as there are over thirty images to this Slideshow, so loading time may or may not take a few minutes depending on your browser, but it's well worth the wait . . .
