About CZR Technologies |
|
|
The
Palm OS based software contained here is for clinicians who need information
at the point of care. While there is a great abundance of medical information,
it is often difficult to access this information when physicians need it.
Doctors rarely have the time to leave the patient in the room and browse
through a medical text. CZR Technologies has taken advantage of the ubiquity
of personal digital assistants to enable physicians to have immediate access
to high-quality information. The
medical applications in this website are not electronic books. Rather, they
are decision support tools. They are user-friendly programs that guide
doctors through complex algorithms and treatment guidelines. They are
designed to be intuitive and quick to use. It should not take more that a few
seconds (or minutes) to use them. Please
feel free to download the programs that follow. You can use them free of
charge. You may also distribute them without permission from the author. Please
note that use of these applications indicates acceptance of the disclaimer accompanying the software. |

Abnormal Pap Smear (Pap.prc) |
|
|
Doctors
are often faced with the question of what to do with an abnormal pap smear.
Deciding on a course of action can be difficult. The American Society for
Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) came up with Consensus Guidelines on
Management of Women with Cervical Cytological Abnormalities. These guidelines
are very helpful but can be difficult to navigate trough. Pap.prc
is a clinical decision support tool that guides the clinician through the
different ASCCP pathways in a manner that is quick and intuitive. |

Drugs in Pregnancy (OBRx.prc) |
|
|
A lot of
times, patients suffer needlessly because physicians avoid giving them any
medications during their pregnancy. While it is prudent to avoid unnecessary
medications in pregnancy, there are numerous drugs that are safe to use. This
program will help doctors decide which medications are safe and which aren't. |

Depression (Depression.prc) |
|
|
Depression
is a very debilitating disease. Fortunately, there are various treatment options
that are effective in treating this disorder. This program is an excellent
tool that will help a physician to screen for, treat, and monitor depression.
It uses the PHQ-9 in making the diagnosis and monitoring the treatment
response. If a patient is found to have depression, it uses the American
Psychiatric Association’s clinical practice guidelines to guide the clinician in
deciding on treatment options. |

Abnormal INR (INR.prc) |
|
|
This application helps clinicians
decide what to do with abnormal INR values in the face of possible life
threatening bleeding. This is a problem doctors frequently encounter in the
hospital floors. Many times, the answer can be confusing. Should we hold the
warfarin? Should we give vitamin K? How about FFP? This application will
help us make those important decisions. |
