AND ADVENTURES |
| 9/6/2005 Greg called and said he's doing fine. They have been kept pretty busy getting all their gear and special uniforms. They are taking special classes this week on what they will be doing over there(security). They also have been doing alot of PT and he says his muscles are pretty sore. He's also having a hard time with his alergies and wants me to send him some stuff for it. He has taken a few pictures and will be sending them to me shortly. Once he does I will post them on here for you all to see with a description. He said he'd love to get mail and some freshly baked goodies, but the only problem is that his platoon(30 of them!) would want some too. I have decided to bake some for them, but will have to wait until I get some extra cash to mail them out. He sounds like he's enjoying himself but he does miss all of us here at home. Told me to tell everyone hello for him. He appreciates everyones prayers and support. Well thats all for today! |
9/20/2005 Not much to report, except we've finished the first phase of our training. We're gonna have a break this weekend it will be boring with nothing to do. Anyone who knows me will understand that boring to me will be very painful, LOL! |
| 3/16/2006 I know it has been a long time since anything was written in here, but have been very busy. Some of you know that I have been in Iraq now since Dec 1 of 2005. I am pretty much settled in and my days are long and sometimes hectic. I have seen many things happen here and I am so glad that I am an american. I wouldn't wish these conditions here on anyone. I am also proud to be able to help these people gain their freedom from all of this. To be a part of the history taking place here is another Honor and one in which I hope to share the story with others in the future. My days are spent waking up around 3:00Am, going to meetings, eating breakfast, then going out on what we call Missions. Where we transport either VIP's or prisoners to their needed destinations. I also help clear the roads of any obstacles that may hinder those missions, such as I.E.D.'s or unwanted vehicles/people. I have seen an IED go off and let me tell you it woke me up to just how dangerous it is over here and what these people have to deal with on a daily basis. I don't know how anyone at home would be able to deal with it like they do if this happened all the time there. We americans have it nice compared to here. After we complete our daily mission's it is back to our quarters and take care of our vehicles and equipment. We then have free time before we go to eat, which by the way we eat very well here. We are always in bed by 7 or 8pm. We work mostly 12 hour days and then have 2 days off. But even those days are busy, because we have to maintain our sleeping quaters and do our laundry etc. Today is my 23rd Birthday and I have matured quite a bit after seeing what I have here. I know I will appreciate things at home alot more and look at life alot differently. I will be going home on leave soon and plan on spending it with most of my family members. Even my brother Russ will be visiting while I am home. It will be nice to all be together again and do some fun things like we used to before my father and brother died. I know my Mom really misses us all being together and I am glad my brothers care enough to help make her feel better and grant her, her wishes. Well that's all for now, will add more after I come back from leave. Thanks for all your prayers..and God Bless you all! Greg | |
