| BUSTAQUE... Bustaque
is my paternal grandmother's maiden name. The Bustaque
part of my family tree is extensive, also leading through
Spain and Puerto Rico. My grandmother, Ofelia
Baldomera Bustaque Dalmau
(b:02/27/1917 - d:09/15/1995) can be attributed with sparking my
interest in the history of my family. Weekend trips to
her sisters' home in Miami during the mid 90's allowed me the incredible
opportunity to talk with my grandmother and my aunts (Merry
& Mercy) about our family. They were all in
their 80's and full of wisdom and stories.

I must thank my
prima-hermana (1st cousin, once removed),
Carolina Bustaque Estrada for all of her help with the
Bustaque branch of the family tree.

Carolina
is my father's first cousin. She and her husband
Ron L. Clair live in Central FL. They have three
children, pictured above, and 4 & 1/2
grandchildren. As of 01/07/2002, Ginette, their only
daughter, is expecting her 2nd baby. Coingrats!
There
has been much sadness in the Bustaque line in recent yers, brought on by
the untimely loss of a cousin, Alfredo Bustaque Jr. at the
age of 16 on 08/10/1994, and his father Alfredo Bustaque at the age of 50
on 11/12/2000. Alfred Sr. was my grandmother's
nephew and said by all to be a marvelous person.
My mom tells me that
he was a beautiful person and although I have some memories
of him from when I was a little girl and also in my teens
from weddings and family events, I must say that
unfortunately I did not know them well. Hopefully, I
will have some input from Alfred Sr. and Jr's surviving
family members for all to read.
However, my heart and
prayers go out to his sisters, Ileana and Carolina, brother,
Eddie, wife, Gail and their two
daughters. May they be blessed through the rest of
their days with goodness and health and wonderful memories
of Freddy Sr. and Jr.
