Ok guys and girlies, surely you've had SOME dance experience while on the go at a feis/performance, that caused you to grimace, smile, moan, or cry! Send in your "real dancer" story and have it published here for all the world to see...! Contributed by: Erin
It was the first feis I got to wear my brand new wig. These were the good old days when curlers were still part of an Irish dancers life, and not wigs, so we ( Mum and I ) had nobody to direct us in how to actually put on the wig. We just figured that you clipped it on to a ponytail and let it fly. Obviously, we were very wrong and this was discoverd when the wig began to slide down my ponytail (mind you, i was on-stage performing a reel). I hadn't realized what was happening yet so i continued to prance about the stage without a care in the world. I had almost finished my dance when I fell to the ground with a big thud - my wig had falled off and I had slipped in it!Contributed by: Val
When I was 10, I fell while dancing a 6 hand in competition, nearly pulled my partner down on top of me and kicked the girl across from me. I got up and kept dancing. We came in third.
The same sort of thing happened again over a decade later. While performing the set portion of my competition, I slipped (despite the electrical tape on my shoes) and fell, landing in such a way that I tore a couple ligaments in my shoulder. I, having not yet noticed that I was hurt, pushed myself right back up and kept dancing. I was awarded a fourth place trophy, but had to accept it while holding an ice pack to my shoulder! It was my first performance for St. Patricks day. My teacher and I were doing a 2 hand reel in the center of the stage. We were suppose to go right but I started doing 7's left!! I accidentally tripped over her foot and sent her falling onto her back...everybody in the crowd was laughing.

We were going to a feis where we had to ride over to an island on a ferry. The ferry ride was about four hours long or so, so we decided to put in my curlers on the ferry. The entire time we were putting up the curlers, this little old lady sitting across the aisle from us was pretending to read, but you could tell that her horrified looks were in MY direction. After about fifteen minutes, she cautiously moved further away from us (I think she was glaring at me!)
