Socializing

Fun Places to Take your Dane

Staying Home Alone

I would suggest to you that you try to figure out some way, any way, for your puppy to have a walk and a little play time in the middle of the day.  Ten to eleven hours is a VERY long time for a puppy, and is even quite long for a grown dog to be alone everyday.  Four hours is usually a good time maximum for a puppy, and six hours is an ideal minimum for a dog, although most of us must work, and are gone for longer periods.  I would try to find someone to come over once or twice a day and walk and play with your pup.  Or, find a formal doggie day care, or find someone else with a puppy, and see if they will “puppy-sit” for you, letting both pups play together during the day.  If I were you I would make a strong effort to try to arrange something so that your pup is not isolated for such a long time.  It can really be detrimental to him later on leading to chewing problems, separation anxiety, and poor social skills (which can lead to aggression).
