Are there aliens? Are there gods? What does it mean to be human? So much nonsense has been written on these subjects. But a few brilliant science fiction writers, film directors, and TV series have made these issues come alive. This site is dedicated to them.
This site is about potential contact between humans and aliens. Speculation about aliens may well be replacing speculation about God or gods as the leading form of popular philosophy. Certainly sites about aliens abound on the web. I want to take popular images of aliens as a jumping off point for social and philosophical commentary on the human condition and man's place in the universe. But my own commentaries are secondary to the recommendations of works of science fiction that uplift the spirit rather than merely titillate the senses.
I hope this site will expand and develop over time, but
I wanted to get it out on the net now, so I can work any feedback I get
into future development of the site. These are the pages I have worked
