Entry for May 09, 2008
I'm back in Colorado. I'm taking it easy while my feet heal. I wore the wrong shoes for exercising and blistered the toes on my right foot. OUCH! It has taken most of a month for them to heal up.
I've got big plans to get my bicycles going and to get in a lot of riding this spring.

After a couple of rest days I made it back to the gym and cranked the aerobic exercise up a notch and did thirty minutes at level eight on the exercise bike. I'm starting to feel some improvements.
Why is it that I can't find anything I've lost except for weight?

Got the sniffles and slept in so today is another rest day. The good news is a weighed in at 314 pounds that's down five for the month.

Swam a mile today! 1700 meters, in 45:38. That's 5:00 faster and I've broken the 1/3 Olympic speed barrier. One of my goals is to get to 1/2 Olympic speed this year.
Grant Hackett of Australia holds the Olympic record in men's 1500 meter freestyle swimming event. His timing was 14:43.40 seconds. He made the record in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
So I need to get my time down to 29:26.8 for the metric mile as it's sometimes called. I've dropped 20 seconds per hundred meters, now I need to drop 40 seconds more per hundred meters. I hope to get close to that this summer.

The exercise is going well and I feel a little more muscular. I did forty minutes on the exercise bike today. I know my stamina is getting better, yet this is not showing up on my scale as increased muscle.
My reading on the Internet indicates that muscle mass will only increase three to four pounds per quarter.
I shall continue my experiment to see if this is correct.
I am averaging thirty minutes of exercise per day, even with the ocasional rest day.
