Hiking Clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area


This page is intended to present a list of the numerous hiking clubs that exist in the San Francisco Bay Area. More will be added as I become aware of them. Most clubs have established their own web pages, and for these a link is provided. Where no link exists, drop me an e-mail for more information. Antioch Trail Masters

Bay Area Jewish Singles Hiking Club

Bay Area Orienteering Club

CAL Hiking And Outdoor Society

California Alpine Club

Companions of the Trail

Lafayette Hiking Club [No web page available.]
"The Lafayette Parks and Recreation Commission schedules hikes on the average of two hikes a month as a service to the community. No fee or advance registration is required except where noted."

Livermore Hiking Club
"The Livermore Hiking Club is an informal group with no published schedule. Hikers meet every Friday at 8:30 AM (SHARP) in front of the Old Carnegie Library in Livermore, on South K Street between 3rd and 4th Streets."

Mary & Martin Hikes - Sonoma County
"Our hikes will be on Sunday mornings, beginning promptly at 10:00 a.m. (Our one exception is a Sat. evening hike in August). We will generally hike around 5 – 6 miles, with moderate pace and elevation (under 1000 feet in elevation climb). Along the way, we may have opportunities to interpret some of the park’s history, resources, and hidden treasures."

Montclair Hiking Club

North Bay Christian Hikers

Orinda Hiking Club

Pacific Trail Society
"The Pacific Trail Society is an informal group that hikes in Marin, Point Reyes, and the East Bay about 2-4 times a month. Most of our hikes are 10-15 miles long and the degree of difficulty for most hikes is 'intermediate/moderately strenuous'."

San Francisco Hiking Club

South Bay Ramblers
"A new group is forming in the South Bay with the goal of gathering people together to have fun, while getting plenty of exercise and making new friends. Our walks will cover six to eight miles and be fairly strenuous."

Stanford Outing Club
"Our most common activity is hiking (day trips) at one of the Bay Area's many parks, such as Pt. Reyes, Big Basin, Mt. Tamalpais, or Pinnacles, to name a few. Our activities are open for everyone (i.e. also for people not affiliated with Stanford University)."

Tuesday Tilden Walkers [No website]
"We're so slow, we don't even call ourselves a hiking club. But we've been enjoying walking in Tilden Park in Berkeley for almost 15 years. We vary our 1-2 mile walks in the Nature Area but usually include Jewel Lake, wildflowers, animal life and favorite trails. Wednesday Hikes in Marin County
"Every Wednesday we offer four to five hikes ranging from 3-4 miles up to 12-15 miles in length. Everyone is welcome on these hikes; you do not have to be a member of anything to join us."
