Thanks to all of you who have been sending in your dues. Remember, if your label does not have FA 08 or FL, we have not received your dues for 2008. Some of you sent checks in for 2008 but it was for 2007 since you may not have paid anything in 2007. Welcome New Members!

As I talk to people about joining FCRTA, I am often asked, "What does FCRTA have to offer"? My immediate response is that FCRTA and ORTA are the oldest organizations in Ohio that are governed by retired teachers. Both organizations have as their primary mission, keeping members informed about legislation and trends that could or will impact their retirement benefits and qualit6y of life.
But there are additional reasons to join FCRTA:
Six luncheons per year which often feature speakers that give us updated information concerning our STRS pension or topics that affect seniors' lifestyles
Quarterly newsletters
Community service
Recognition awards
Entertainment at the luncheons
Special benefits for FCRTA members only
A time and place to visit with long time friends and to make new ones
All teachers and educators receiving retirement allowances from the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) of Teachers Retirement Systems of other states, are eligible for membership. Other persons interested in the local association and the state organization may apply to the Executive Committee for membership.
Dues: FCRTA dues are $10 per year payable in September for the following year. The membership is from January 1 through December 31. Life membership is $100 and a good investment. Your mailing label on the Newsletter always lets you know when you last paid your dues.
Each time we mail the FCRTA Newsletter, it goes out to over 200 nonmembers as well as members. Most of these are new retirees. So you may be reading this Newsletter even though you have not joined our organization. We would like to make this an invitation to all nonmembers to join FCRTA and ORTA. All retired teachers need to support those organizations that attempt to protect our benefits. Legislators understand numbers and many retired teachers have not gotten involved in supporting the cause. Once we get our retirement checks, someone must be aware of what is happening at STRS and with the state legislature that governs some of the rules of our Retirement System. So, JOIN TODAY!!!!!!! or give a gift membership to a friend.

Remember!!!! Legislators understand unified efforts and numbers. Be a part of the solution.
