Galletta's Go-Kart Speedway 2006 Event #11 results: Sunday, August
20th, 2006 (50-lap Feature) Galletta's Speedway was nearly rained out last
Sunday, but we stuck to it and made the show. The back straight was a
little slick, but it didn't stop us from running our 11th straight
points show of the year. Since only 10 drivers showed (due partially to
the weather and partially over a disagreement about the rules - see
below), and only one 1st-timer (Chris' friend "Transformer" Tim
Sczerby of Auburn, NY - AKA Frank Grimes), we didn't run a heat and just
allowed him to take some practice laps.

Billy Kuykendell served a 1-event suspension for rules violations
(throwing helmet/throwing temper tantrum after race).
Matt dominated the show as everybody else found
passing difficult in the slick back straight... Matt blew by everybody
effortlessly and coasted to an easy win. Matt is also running away with
the points standings to boot, as he has 6 wins and everybody else has 5
wins COMBINED.

POINTS SCORING SYSTEM IS IN RULES SECTION! Each heat and feature is started in a handicap order, reversed from points-per-event (low-to-high). Inexperienced drivers with less than 10 races and wreck-prone drivers start in the back regardless of points. Points are scored based on finishing positions in heats and features (with bonus points for each feature lap in the top 3 spots).
VIEW THE DVD! DVD is available for $3-$5. All pics are internet-reduced, low-resolution screenshots from the DVD. DVDs are $5 each, but if you pre-order and buy multiple discs we can discount to $3 or less depending on how many one orders. On average of 2+ hours of action on every disc, two camera angles, and packed with tight racing and spectacular flips and crashes right in front of the cameras! And this week, partially announced by Colin Miller! Cameras operated by Uncle Gene Galletta, Rungnapha "Au" Stevens, and captures are all optimized for the website by Chris "ChrusherComix" Stevens for free, so please give your thanks and buy a DVD! Nobody makes a profit at Galletta's (rental money goes into kart parts and usually comes out of mostly Matt's thin pocket), except the people who come and steal things from us. Now missing is a $70 Iron-Man watch (that we have used to time trial the karts over the past several years) and this week's 50/50 money points fund! Add that to missing beach chairs, owed rental money, owed money for parts, and missing rental money! Thanks to the thievery and continued reports of ungrateful visitors bitching, whining, and fighting - especially those who don't pay rent and stick us with bills for their broken karts, I probably won't be doing this website or DVDs much longer, and if property owner Mary Stevens emerges from the house to lay the law down, there may never be any more racing here at Galletta's... so, thanks thieves and Welforce-whiners!
TRACK NEWS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, & RANTS AGAINST PEOPLE WHO
BACKSTAB US:
(1) We will be having payouts for the
Classic Championship Race (held in mid-September every year)... so see Matt or Chris about how much money we should put into
a pot and race-to-win! It should be fun, but everybody has to agree and go in or
we can't do it!
(Note that only stock-part 5hp flatheads can compete for winnings, so
please don't show up with a racing raptor or an OHV and expect to win
cash on our track - this isn't an open engine class). Your kart must be
approved by Matt. See Matt and Chris!
Now, this is Chris's rant section. This
comes from being fed up with everybody bickering, backstabbing, lying,
and not racing:
(1) Several drivers and spectators (mainly from Team Maynes) had a
severe problem with Bill Kuykendell throwing a helmet after blowing a
tire
the
previous weekend, and threatened to never come back if the said
person wasn't suspended. Well, he served his 1 week suspension (we were
NOT going to suspend him, visiting drivers demanded that we suspend him
- we love racing with the guy!) and Team
Meynes still didn't come, so we lost at least three drivers over that
silly disagreement. How nice of everybody! OK, nobody should be throwing
helmets at our karts, or property, or human beings! That's a given. Don't throw temper tantrums,
don't throw helmets, and don't
threaten not to come if someone else does. In other words... Grow up,
show up and race! You guys are all adults, right? We respect all you
guys and want you all to race, so don't fight, don't throw temper
tantrums, and race! :-D
(2) Apparently we have been told that Brian Bortel had a problem with how late we get out every
Sunday so he hasn't been coming. Brian should know that the last two
or three weeks in in a row where the show was
done well before 10pm. 9-9:30pm the last few weeks! Again, how nice of someone who got him
into racing here, got him his engine for him, and tuned it for him, and
he races at other places and not with us? We feel a little insulted
about that. Again, we help everybody out and want to race with them. :-(
We can't wait for Brian to come back and race ASAP!
(3) Still several drivers and spectators either absolutely refuse to
come at all or come under extreme protest simply because they just
cannot get along with Kris Pitsley, who apparently annoys and angers so
many people that Chris and Matt are getting sick of hearing it out of
everybody! While we here believe that maybe some of these people are
overreacting, Kris should also know to stop badmouthing us and accusing
us of "bullshit" and having "house rules that change every week",
having "a
conflict of interest", and are "boring", as we have heard
both out of her mouth and also from countless others. Kris needs to
understand that we've already given her the benefit of the
doubt 100% of the time... even when rental (it pays for gas, parts,
water, electricity - otherwise we don't have NINE equally quick karts
every week, and I am willing to bet that we are the only people in the
world who supply fast rental karts to anybody who walks on to our track
and race in a points race) and 50/50 money (half goes to the
winning attendee and the rest goes to the points fund) that she was in charge of comes up
missing (we've never accused her of stealing it; even though
she was in charge of itAND she blamed everybody else
(her own friends and relatives) that she brought
up here for it and we still haven't been repaid yet. That means Matt
pays for the parts out of his wallet!)! We have never been anything but kind,
forgiving, and overly fair to her,
her son Rob, and her friend Bill. So why there are accusations of
"bullshit" cheating or bias against them, there is absolutely untrue.
Kris has always been helpful with lap-counting and an occasional
flag-person, but we cannot tolerate any more nonsense, to which I have
personally heard myself and heard from others. Hence, if we hear it one more time from
anybody, then some people won't be invited to race or attend anymore. To
all... Grow up, shut up,
or don't come! Especially those who don't even race and still run
their mouths against us! Someone banned from one racetrack (for not paying
to get in and starting fights) shouldn't blast another racetrack when she has been suspected
and/or accused of so much by various sources (and believe me... it isn't
ONE person... it's several!) who beg us to ban her and we haven't. Yet.
And hopefully we won't have to! Let this be a lesson that you don't like
it when you backstab people who have always been kind and courteous to
you... don't feel too good, does it? (This isn't about Ken, Rob, or
Bill either; we love racing with you guys and we stick up for all you guys and have always been nice to
all of you... so someone close to you needs to stop badmouthing us to everybody!).
(4) Add to that, toothless-wonder and all-around slanderous scumbag Derek Woodworth (who sucks so bad that he
gets soundly beat by 100% stock motors even though we've been
told from various sources that he has
essentially a Racing Raptor motor), should learn to keep his mouth shut.
In addition to (1) asking for (and getting) his money back after he
broke a rental kart and telling us he'd race with us the next
week [and never raced here again - hence a lie], (2) lying and accusing us of cheating and "having
work done" to our karts [with absolutely zero evidence - he
hasn't been here in several weeks and never even bothered to
inspect the karts when Matt is working on them - which Matt NEVER hides
and always shows those who want to watch AND helps anybody set up their
karts!], and (4) lied and accused us of stealing some poor little
kid's go-kart to the police, which got us a visit from a sheriff deputy (who,
of course, cleared us)! How nice of, as my friend Scott would say, "that welfare-case
food-stampage asshole." People who have allegedly been
accused of being
sex offenders by some people and are mysteriously compiling a large quality of go-karts for
his new Trailer Park Extravaganza Racing Track shouldn't accuse an entire family -
known for owning a respected business for generations and 5 adults 100%
free of a criminal record - of stealing little kid's go-karts when we
already have 9 of our own homemade karts and no room for them as it is!
He's banned from our property and needs to watch his big mouth before
somebody closes it for him - or better yet - sues him for slander. Who
the hell ever invited him anyway?! (By the way, if Derek doesn't like
this, then maybe he shouldn't talk about us behind our backs, accuse us
of cheating and stealing, and try to steal our racers to race on his
track! Oh, and don't be too friendly with the cops... I have a suspicion
that they suspect someone of stealing go-karts - and it isn't us! Gee, I
wonder who?)
(Derek L
Woodworth?)
(Derek's
dad, Vernon, responded to this rant on the following webpage, to which I
also responded! Please read!)
(5) In addition to that, if anybody sees a red go-kart with a white #9
on large red side-panels, a roll cage and an OHV motor, contact the
police about it. Some poor little kid on Rathburn Road misses it, God
bless him. And if you stole it, shame on you, you filthy scum!
(6) Finally... in fact, Chris and Matt are getting fairly mad at (1) everybody
gossiping, back-stabbing, bickering and bitching and badmouthing each other behind their
backs, (2) accusing people of cheating, and (3) not coming to race. All
in all, the races go on no matter who shows and who doesn't, even if it
was the way it was in 1995-2001 back when it was only Matt, Chris, Ogre
(and one or two friends or relatives) racing every weekend and nobody
else. That's why we always win more races than anybody else... not
because we fix it so we have the fastest karts, but because we've been doing it for over a
decade and nobody else does (not because we cheat, as we can hop into
any kart and beat anybody on our track and everybody cries like little
babies because they can't beat us, then leave just before they even get good
enough to give us a good challenge). You wouldn't hop into a Super
and go onto Oswego Speedway and beat all the championship vets on that
track on your 1st try, and you wouldn't hop into a NASCAR event and go
and beat the championship drivers there on your first try - so get over
it, shut up and race! And finally, all Galletta's karts are owned by us
and have 100% stock-part Briggs flatheads, and that's the way it will
stay for the foreseeable future, so we don't need to hear about people
forcing us to race in a class different from our own, because it is our
track and our 9 karts. Show up, be nice (or STFU), and race!
And if you can't be nice and accuse us of cheating, then come out with a
raptor and we'll STILL beat your @$$ with our 100% stock-part engines. Or...
here's an idea... don't come and stop talking about us unless you say it
to our faces. Period! Thanks!
Note: This isn't about the guys who have been racing with
us and being friends for years - we love you guys and have no problems
with any of you even though it grieves us when you don't come to race. This is about a few people who know who they are. Your
guilt lets you know who you are to boot. And some who are a little too
gossip-happy too.
(UPDATE 2006/08/26) Mary Stevens wanted me to add that
nobody has been
slandered
on this website - so threats of suing for false allegations are
ludicrous. This is America and we have
freedom of speech. If somebody disobeys the rules (read
them); I'll post it. If someone falsely accuses us of
cheating;
I'll post it. If something gets stolen from us; I'll post it. If someone
fights; I'll post it. And... if someone calls the cops on us saying we
stole a go-kart, they'll get lambasted on this site. I am a
comedian/cartoonist, and
I'll lampoon
and parody
you! So print up this website and show it to the whole city, Derek.
Print up pages from last year when certain people weren't allowed to
race with bigger motors than us, Derek. And show them to everybody, you
idiot! The state trooper informed us that you told us that you saw the
stolen go-kart racing with us here on our property! That's kind of hard
considering that you haven't been here in weeks and that kid's kart was
just stolen just a few days ago. We've heard about your toothless mouth
accusing us of having work done. We've heard all about you starting a
go-kart track and inviting everybody here except us to race at it. We
know that you broke our go-kart and then asked for your rental money
back. We know that, because you are a terrible driver and you have a
racing motor racing in a stock class and you still can't win. What does
that make you?
We won't be racing at Oswego Speedway's dirt track anymore due to the
continuous lack of rules, organization, respect, and courtesy to us
(when we've been paying attendees at that racetrack on a weekly basis
for decades and never once caused a problem there!). They have no known
rules that we can see, lied to us and said if we had at least 4 of our
own karts, we could run our own class, then force us to race in an open
class with mixed motors. Then, on top of allowing any kind of a motor,
they don't penalize people who wreck or kick out drivers who clearly are
hazards and appear to be wrecking on purpose. Considering that they want
to expand the kart racing in the future, they certainly are NOT doing a
good job managing the dirt kart racing they currently have there. Unless
they run that track more competently and have clear-cut classes and
rules, we won't be back to race at Oswego Speedway. We'd be happy to
help since we've been racing here for over a decade, but if they keep
doing it the way they've been doing it, we won't be back and we'll be
happy to race clean on our track with our
rules
like we've been since the early 1990s with no complaints out of anybody.
-Chris
(and with the approval of his wife, Matt, Wes, and Mary Stevens - though
they didn't write it.)
Oswego Speedway Mixed-Class Dirt Track
Exhibition: Friday, August 18th, 2006 (One
20-lap Heat and 40-lap Feature) The mixed-class exhibition at
Oswego Speedway
last
Friday was an unusual one, as the clay surface was seriously rutted
up in portions and nearly all of the expensive "racing" go-kart classes
wussed out. This left the mixed class (which consists of our Galletta's
5hp class and a mixed OHV class that consists of Mark Miller, Mike
Billion, and several others) as one of the only classes willing to
navigate the bumpy track. Getting the benefit, we ran a longer heat and
a grueling 40-lap feature! The 40-lap race was a fun event to behold,
and a grueling one to participate in, as the field shuffled a great deal
from start to finish thanks to the ruts and jumps that made the fastest
groove harder to find.
As the picture shows, Wesley James "TrOgre" Stevens (in
the Galletta's#4) got the win, shown above with a batch of defeated foes
behind him. Ogre inherited the lead when Mike Billion (OHV #57) flipped
on top of polesitter Matt Stevens (Galletta's #3) while going for the
lead. The two battled back and forth throughout and worked their way
back up. In fact, Mike flipped his kart two times during the event,
which probably cost him a win. Ogre went unchallenged for most of the
event, as a distant second was Brian Bortel (#15). Eric Raponi spent
most of the race in 3rd, but on the last lap, he got loose and it
enabled Matt Stevens (#3) to get him for 3rd, and Chris Stevens (in the
Galletta's #7 because his Galletta's #8 had a gummed up carb) to tie him
for 4th. Chris now has three ties in three weeks of go-kart racing,
which is an anomaly in terms of statistical probability. Mark Miller
(OHV #00) and Mike Billion were right there behind them in a competitive
bumper-to-bumper race.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: We have been racing earlier every Sunday for the rest of the summer, so drivers, please come to the track earlier, possibly around 4-5pm (or call Matt for details). It is impossible from June-July due to
greenhouse work, but late July-October, the racing should start in the
afternoon. Also, a reminder is that we always race Saturdays in the Fall
(when Oswego
Supers stop Saturdays and NFL football starts un Sundays). Thanks!
