His life as a Beatle... George Harrison was born on February 24, 1943 in Liverpool, England. Paul McCartney was a friend from George's school and also a member of The Quarry Men, and he asked Harrison to join the group in 1958. Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best joined and eventually left the group, and The Beatles got a record deal with EMI label Parlophone. George became known for his skills on the guitar and was overshadowed as a songwriter. George also was labeled as the quiet Beatle, which was a false comment since his close friends spoke of Harrison as being someone who talked all of the time and had a great sense of humor. As the years progressed, George's contributions to the group became more recognizable and applaudable. He also appeared to be the most spiritual member of the foursome, and introduced the others to Mahareshi Yogi. He even played a few songs with the sitar. Some of Harrison's most notable songs as a Beatle are 'Here Comes the Sun', 'Something', and 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.

"Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot"

"The Beatles can't save the world. We'll be lucky if we can even save ourselves"

"Well I wanted to stop touring after about '65, actually, because I was getting very nervous. They kept planning these ticker-tape parades through San Francisco, and I was saying,'I absolutely don't want to do that.' I didnt like the idea of being too popular. I think in history you can see that when people get too big, something like that can very easily happen."
