His life as a Beatle... Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool, England. Paul met John Lennon on July 6, 1957 at a church where John was playing with his band The Quarrymen. The band impressed young Paul, and he was invited to join. Members left the group and George Harrison joined.  They had several name changes and played in dancehalls and at parties as they became The Beatles. Months passed and the group's fame heightened. Eventually they were a big success and became known for their individual talents and for the songwriting skills of Lennon and McCartney. Paul was the main heartthrob of the group and the bass and piano player. In the later years of The Beatles, Paul and John's views began to differ and the group's individual skills were displayed in every song. Paul was the first member to disband from the group. Some of Paul's most notable songs are 'Eleanor Rigby,' 'Yesterday,' and 'Here, There, and Everywhere.'

"It's like if you've been an astronaut and you've been to the moon. What do you do with the rest of your life?"

"We're not learning to be architects, or painters, or writers. We're learning to be. That's all."
