Descendents of Robert Jibson and Mary (Wolton) Jibson of Yorkshire

The real power of the internet is the power to overcome time and distance and make connections that could not have been made just a few years ago. Over the past few years I have heard from a number of cousins who have found me through the Internet.  I have had e-mail from Australia, England, The U.S. and Canada; people named Jibson who were searching our surname on the Internet and who wrote to say, "Hey, we share a name. I wonder how we might be related."  One of the great things about the Jibson name is that it's just unusual enough that we probably are related to everyone who shares it.

The idea of this website is to provide an informal meeting place for any Jibsons who might like to establish some family connections.  I don't intend the site to be a clearing house for information about our genealogy, though I encourage everyone who signs the guest book to try to place themselves in a family context to the extent that they can. See the "History" page on the navigation menu for help with that.
