from Finland to Jerusalem with love
17 April 2003
The village was founded in 1971 by Finnish believers in the bible,
who came to help build the young Jewish State.
The name "Yad haShmona" is in the memory
of the eight Jews transported from Finland during the Holocaust.
Finland denied the german request to transport more Finnish Jews
to german/polish concentrating camps.
"yad" means memorial and "shmona" means eight.
