Lions club of Serampore is a unit of Lions Clubs International  founded in the year 1969 with a sole aim of service to the needy brethren of the community. During the last 37 years with the generous support and International guidance we have been able to further the cause of education by constructing school building, giving free furniture, teaching aids, books and scholarship etc.  to several s chools of our area.  As our major Signature Projects  we have started   "ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDS"  with tree plantations, Volleyball coaching Centre & Children Park. Second Signature project is "NETRA SURAKSHA" Eye Screening, Eye Cataract operation ( IOL), Eye Pledge,  were are concentrating on the eradication of blindness by taking up programme of Free Eye Operations regularly at hospitals.Our third Signature Project recently inaugurated is"ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE".  Now we want to construct Base Eye Hospital at our Lions Medicare Center at Konnagar and provide free EYE OPERATION (IOL) facilities there & at Serampore.  We have  already started  other  Medical facilities at our Lions Medicare Centre, Konnagar i.e.. Allopathic Dept. Homeopathy Dept., ECG checkup, Diabetic Checkup,  Eye Screening,  Dental &  Skin.  Free medical  check up  and organizing  sports &  other social  activities for  children  of  our  adopted  village SATGHARA and  other  surrounding  villages.  In line  with    NATIONAL PROGRAMME  we organize laproscopic/ligation camps wherein about 500 women  are ligated every year.

We also run free immunization camps and are deeply involved in taking care of the incurable crippled and handicapped inmates of CHESHIRE HOME, in Serampore.

In addition to the above, we have also taken up a massive project for providing drinking water facilities in remote villages by installing hand pumps.
