Welcome to Harvest Moon Frequently Asked Questions. These questions are mostly for HM64, but the version is listed before each question.
- HM64 Does throwing small rocks into the well on your land have any impact on the well later?
Not at all. The well never fills with rocks, and your water isn’t poisoned or anything.
- HM64 I lost my dog. How do I find him?
First off, great job. You are an amazing pet owner. If you lost your dog some where other than your farm, go to everywhere you’ve been since you lost the pooch and use the dog whistle. If the dog is in the area, he will bark. If you lost the pup in your kitchen or bathroom, keep trying the whistle, and eventually the dog will run back to you from across the black space. Why exactly do you want him back, anyway?
- HM64 What consequence does it have on your game when one of your livestock dies?
You get a nice little funeral to bury the animal next to your grandfather. When your father comes to visit and asks people how you have been, the owner of the Green Ranch will say you are irresponsible.
- HM64 Who is the best of the five women to marry?
That completely depends on how much you can tolerate each of them. I’m not a Popuri person; her randomly watering my dirt aggravates me. Karen is my favorite, because of her “personality”. Karen is pretty easy to court: her favorite things are quite accessible and cheap, she has a night location, and her appearance isn’t distracting. To see all of the Harvest Moon 64 women, click here.
- HM GBC Which is better, being a guy or a girl?
The gender of your person doesn’t much matter in this game because you do not court other characters and you have the same tools and chores. There is, however, only one save, so you might want to take some time to choose the irrelevant.
- HM GBC3 Which is better, being a guy or a girl?
Being that there are two saves, you can have on be male and one be female. It might take some time to choose which save to play though, as guys and girls have completely different roles and abilities. Also to consider are the people you can court as either gender.
- HM64 Why won’t my chickens lay eggs?
If you have left your chickens out in rain (a typhoon will kill your chicken if they are outside) or failed to feed them while they were indoors, your chickens will not lay eggs. When they are sick from neglect, their reds will be darker and they won’t move around as much. After one day of being taken care of, the chickens won’t be ill, but will not lay eggs until they have been taken care of for two days.
- HM64 My cow or lamb is sick, what do I do?
If your cow or lamb is sick, (you will be told if it is sick when you talk to the animal) hustle over to Green Ranch and buy medicine. If it is a Thursday, Green Ranch will be closed and you must wait another day. Do not wait more than two days to cure your animals. They will die if you do not take care of them.
- HM64 How do I reproduce?
To have a child, you must be married and have a baby bed (the carpenters will build one for 1000g and 100 pieces of lumber). A few weeks into the pregnancy, your wife will start to feel different. An example of the difference being Karen craving sweets (she normally despises sweets of all kinds). She will find out that she is pregant and tell you. Three seasons after she gets pregnant, you will wake up to the midwife and your wife’s mother delivering the baby.
- HM64 How many kids can you have?
You can only have one child, and it will always be a boy. Your son will never grow up, but he will learn to walk after a Harvest Moon 64 year of life.
- HM64 Can you have a daughter?
You can only have one child, and it will always be a boy.
