ABOUT US

The purpose of the Monmouth County Rifle & Pistol Club, Inc. a nonprofit club is to promote good sportsmanship and fellowship among people who like firearms and residents of the community. The club fosters or develops: all kinds of shooting sports activities; knowledge about firearms and firearm laws, and archery. The club also allows use of our ranges by government agencies (police, FBI, and military) with advance approval by the members.

The club provides a safe place for recreational and competitive shooting, and training in safe use of firearms. We assist in teaching and promoting the fun of the shooting sports. The club has competitive shooting events at our outdoor ranges throughout the year, monthly Trustee and General club meetings, and a monthly newsletter. Members and guests may also use our ranges for recreational shooting and archery, when competitive events are not scheduled.

The Trustee and General club meetings take place at the Spring Lake Heights Masonic Lodge building. The General club meeting is for fellowship of members, and discipline reports. At the general meetings we may vote on new applicants; have activity reports; list items members want to buy or sell; ask for help on a firearm topic; propose activities; get knowledge about firearms and firearm laws; have free books, magazines, catalogs or other brochures; have member votes on proposals or expenses; and sometimes a speaker.

The newsletter covers items from the club meeting, upcoming club events and results from past events, changes or proposed changes in NJ and Federal firearm laws, news about members, shows or events members recommend, and items members want to buy or sell.

The club shooting property is located along Birdsall Rd. near Belmar Blvd. in Howell Township and is open to members and their guests only, except during certain competitive shooting events. The club shooting facility currently has 4 outdoor ranges: two 50 foot pistol; 50 yards; and 100 yards; there also is on property parking. The two 50 ft. ranges have firing line tables to hold equipment. There are some bench rests for members to move and use on any of the ranges. There are outdoor chairs for people to move around to watch matches or wait for their turn. Trap matches cover one 50 foot range, the 50 yard and the 100 yard ranges.
