Lost and Found Pet Bird Resources

When a pet dog or cat is found, why is it that the immediate thought is to find the animal's owner, and yet when a bird is found, the immediate thought is to buy a cage?
This dreadful approach to lost birds has to change. Pet birds are very loving, caring, and intelligent animals and are a part of a family "flock". Someone out there is greatly missing his or her buddy and desperately needs your help to bring the little guy or girl back to the home and family they know.
	There are many free places on the Internet to post lost and found pet ads. These ads have helped many a feathered friend be reunited with their "mommy" and or "daddy". You are no longer alone. Now when someone finds a bird or knows of a found bird, he or she can quickly check the Internet and see if that bird is listed as lost, and, hopefully, reunite two very sad individuals (one with wings and one without).
	If you've found a pet bird, take your new found friend to a vet, humane society, or shelter to have it scanned for a microchip which will lead you to the owner. If there's no microchip on the bird, please look exhaustively for it's owner using the resources listed below. Also check local newspapers, circulars, and flyers, ask around the neighborhood if anyone's lost a bird, and if possible post flyers of the lost or found bird in vet offices, local businesses (ask if you can post a flyer first) and public areas. Both the owner and the bird will be very much appreciative.
