This is the documentary about the life changing experience one 22 year old senior in college had. Having her future all planned out, this student was forced to sit back and let things happen a different way then expected. Dia DiCristino was diagnosed with a brain cyst  two days before Thanksgiving in 2002. Since then she has had 11 surgeries and countless procedures done. The documentary focuses primarily on the first 10 which happened during the year November 2002--November 2003. The whole movie was filmed with an ordinary web cam- every time Dia came home from the hospital or was experiencing new symptoms she recorded her thoughts on her computer. Not knowing how the illness would escalate, it was never imagined that these videos would add up to the amount that they did, or be put together to form the film "The Year of the Cyst".
