| WHAT WE ARE ABOUT TO DISCUSS HERE CAN ONLY BE CALLED WEIRD, WACKY, AND WILD. Before we begin, however, you must understand that there are two sorts of WEIRD, WACKY, AND WILD. There is pseudoscience and there is borderline science. Pseudoscience is something that wears the trappings of science but is anything but science. The other, borderline science, is real science but is definitely not mainstream. It is sometimes a bit difficult to distinguish between the two until one probes deeply to ferret out the true premise, then the difference becomes painfully obvious. Borderline science is often the place where breakthroughs of a significant nature are made and it is a place where accepted paradigms get stressed to the breaking point. In this section I have skilfully avoided too much personal commentary of the various subjects and have allowed some of the finer sites do their own talking. I would like to point out that there are many, many other sites, but those presented here are the best representatives I have found to date. |

| First, let's take a look at some of the more commonly recognized fields and what they represent. We can begin to formulate a picture of what category something belongs in that way. In the sites lists I have grouped them into three specific categories; Pseudo-science (WEIRD), Pseudo-science -- Borderline Science (WACKY), and Borderline Science (WILD). Some of these tend to cross over one another, being a combination of nonscience and science, so watch carefully for the premises used to present each. | |||||
