Here at Paradise Keets, we strongly believe in producing healthy and strong birds. That is why our breeders are fed Kaytee Forti-diet seeds, Roudybush pellets, Zupreem pellets, a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, sprouted seeds, and the occassional Lafeber's Nutriberry. From time to time, I will give them a spoonful of store-bought eggfood. During breeding season, I make my own eggfood and the breeders receive a tablespoon of this mixture weekly. Sometimes, I also give them a small slice of bread soaked in milk. With this wholesome diet, they are bright eyed, inquisitive, and have beautiful feathering.
All of our birds, including breeder birds, are used to humans and frequently interact with human hands. They are used to us cleaning their cages, re-arranging perches/toys, and they readily eat out of human hands. Although they do not interact with my cockatiel and dogs, they are used to the sights and sounds of our little animal "zoo". The children (ages 13 and 18) interact with the birds on a daily basis and the birds are familiar with human children.
