The Season of Pentecost, Year A
 May 11 — August 30, 2008

In The Bible Through the Seasons, the season of Pentecost (summer in the north) begins on the Sunday nearest June 1, unless the Easter Season is still in effect. An article, "Solar and Sacred Seasons" on page 435 of the book explains the rationale behind suggested changes in the naming of Sundays throughout the year to better accomodate the structure of the Revised Common Lectionary.
